The International Society for Electrostatic Precipitation (ISESP) is a global organization dedicated to advancing research and practical applications in electrostatic precipitation (ESP) and plasma technologies. Since 1981, ISESP has convened the International Conference on Electrostatic Precipitation (ICESP) every two years, providing an essential forum for industry professionals, researchers, and engineers to share knowledge and innovations. The most recent conference was held in Kyoto, Japan, in 2024 and was hosted by the Institute of Electrostatics Japan.

ICESP serves as a premier platform for exchanging experience and technology across key industries, including power generation, cement, pulp & paper, and more. Previous editions have proudly welcomed participants from Europe, the United States, Japan, Korea, China, and India. In 2026, we are thrilled to bring ICESP to Taipei for the very first time — a milestone that promises to open a new chapter in the conference's legacy.
As the world accelerates its transition toward net-zero emissions, the traditional role of ESPs in coal-fired power plants is expected to decline. However, this shift is also opening new avenues for ESP technologies in emerging sectors from the semiconductor industry to advanced manufacturing processes. Taiwan, with its globally leading semiconductor sector, is ideally positioned to showcase these developments.
Moreover, neighboring Asian economies, with strong utility, cement, steel, pulp & paper, and biomass energy industries, offer immense potential for the expanded application of ESP technologies, from fundamental maintenance practices to mandated system upgrades. This evolving landscape not only presents new business and research opportunities, but also reinforces ISESP’s mission to promote education, innovation, and best practices in ESP operation and maintenance worldwide.
